Our first stop in The Philippines was the beautiful Puerto Princesa
I was supposed to be on the jungle hike, but had to cancel due to the troublesome knee, but in the end there were no escorts anyway due to the use of small minibuses instead of coaches So for the pricely sum of $20 we took ourselves off on a crazy tricycle tour
Three points to note:
Tricycles are a lot easier to get into than Tuk Tuk
Tricycles are a lot bumpier than Tuk Tuks
The drivers are completely fearless

We headed off on a tour round the streets of Puerto Princesa before heading out into the country to the butterfly house and tribal village

I made a new friend, this rather large female stick insect. The male tried to crawl onto my hand but she was having none of it and shooed him off. She was very active crawling up and onto my dress, I was worried she would catch her feet/feelers in the fabric but the keepers lifted her gently off so all was good.

Lots of beautiful butterflies fluttered around us before we crossed the road to the Tribal Village. Here’s a laugh for you, I thought the driver said do you want to see some naked people. Shocked I said no, definitely not – he meant native…
So we enjoyed a demonstration off hunting and fire starting skills by the tribesmen. There was also a large snake, which I did hold even though I was terrified

Heading back into town we asked to be left off at the shopping mall where we enjoyed a coffee and a tea latte – an African Sunrise Latte which was delicious followed by a pedicure before wandering through the market to the sea front where we stopped for a cool drink before boarding the ship.
But don’t let me forget the pink eggs…
