Swooping high above the rainforest with cockatiels, kookaburra and parrots flying below you the cable car up to the quaint village of Kuranda is so long you have to do it in three sections.
As we boarded, the first thing we glided over was a field of kangaroo before heading high above the tree tops, rivers and waterfalls
There are 2 stops on the way, you can simply get off and change cable cars or you can take a short walk into the rainforest. I’m still struggling with the knee, but did manage the walk on wooden paths and bridges.

The last section was definitely the best for bird life, the parrots flying under the cable car were so beautiful.

The little town of Kuranda had become much more touristy than I remembered. There was a butterfly farm and a koala park, museum and lots of tourist and craft shops, I only had half an hour here so had a quick walk up the hill before heading back down to the train.

It’s a stunning train ride on beautifully restored old carriages, it’s a long train, this iconic shot was taken from the window at the back of our carriage of the front of the train passing the waterfall
Loved that trip. We did it in reverse and had the wildest storm half way down in the cable car so sheltered till it calmed down!!
