A day at the Opera

Opera House Sails

I’d been to Sydney 3 times, four if you count two trips in one holiday and had never been to the Sydney Opera House which is why we put that right on day one with our night at The Mirrot.

So it was a bit of a surprise on day 2 when my tour was changed last minute from Manly Beach to The Opera House, but what a tour it was

I’d heard people recommend the tour before, and to be honest I wasn’t convinced, but honestly the stories behind it especially the unknown architect and his vision based on shells on the beach are fascinating and the building itself breathtaking. There are 200 steps/stairs which is hard on the knees, but that’s in stages and they take it slow

Opera House Concert Hall

The trip included a couple of viewpoints and a trip to Bondi Beach which is always fun and afterwards we just had time for an ice cream from the Copenhagen Kiosk, some retail therapy and one last drink with friends on Circular Quay before heading back to the ship after a fantastic 2 days in Sydney

‘Bonding’ Beach

Not to be outdone, Mother Nature treated us to a fabulous sunset as we sailed away.

Stunning Sydney
