Afternoon Tea with the Queen

Afternoon Tea

Stepping aboard the beautiful Queen Elizabeth one wet afternoon I was secretly delighted to discover the only food being served was Afternoon Tea in the Britannia Restaurant

Post Covid it’s being served in the restaurant, not the Queens Room and while there are no white gloves there is excellent service from wonderful staff

A string quartet or pianist entertained us with soothing melodies each afternoon From boarding and as we sailed along the English coast in the company of dolphins

I should say at this stage all waiters are wearing masks. This photo was only granted after a lot of persuasion and proof that the captain had also removed her mask for a photo. He also socially distanced before removing the mask and immediately replaced it. Passenger & crew Health was paramount

Menu day 1

The menu changed slightly every day. I prefer afternoon tea to lunch and there was always at least 2 vegetarian choices. Gluten Free could be requested and you could have as much or as little as you liked

One neighbouring table had 2 of each sandwich 2 scones and 2 of each pastry. Each! And yes, they scoffed the lot. But against that we only had one finger sandwich or a scone some days. The scones were sublime!

Every pastry!

We ordered every pastry, every day, just for a photo. But we did half them between us and rarely ate it all. That Gin & Tonic Cake was delicious though

Delicious

Oh and the mini cheesecake was pretty special too!

I’ll definitely cruise Cunard again sometime. The afternoon tea was definitely a highlight of my cruise, all food was excellent along with the spa, the entertainment, dancing in the Queens room and a brilliant line dance class
