Home of the Beatles, Cilla Black, The Liver Birds and some say football, Liverpool is one of those great cities for a cruise stop as you dock right in the city and it’s easy, and pleasant to stroll around
For Beatles fans, it’s a perfect stop, you can visit the Cavern Club, admission with The Beatles Story was around £16 in 2019, the gift shop outside means it’s easy to take some pics and pick up a souvenir without going in, if you aren’t a huge fan Its not the original club, which long since closed, but a good replica http://www.beatlesstory.com
For crew, it’s a brilliant port as it’s an easy walk to the city centre shops and there’s a fantastic Primark!

The city is well served by museums, The Tate, Maritime and Slavery museums are all free admission these are mostly found in Albert Dock – this renovated warehouse area with a cool vibe, lots of restaurants with good outdoor seating areas and shops.
Another great attraction is Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral – A modern cathedral east of the city center.
Liverpool Cathedral You can get to the top of the UK’s largest cathedral partially by elevator. Tower entry is chargeable www.liverpoolcathedral.org.uk

Our Cilla also has her statue near the Cavern Club, I just love making my daughter pose with those statues!
There are hop on hop off buses available right outside the cruise terminal, as a big fan of these I was disappointed as it was not a good experience for us and the staff not a good representation of the friendly people of Liverpool, as well as the Liver Building (view it from the ship) with the iconic bird on top, there’s lots of great quirky architecture to see from the bus though, or just look up as you wander round

When I go back, if not on a tour, I’ll just walk round to the Tate Museum for an explore followed by a good wander round Albert Dock. Beware of the ice cream stalls near the ship, a cruise ship in port skyrockets the prices!
