The ship sailed on
We sailed on. Flights were tricky, flying here there and everywhere to get home or flying through America we had no visa. We didn’t want to put added pressure on our family at home having to wait for us to have the funeral so we stayed. And in Belize our lack of proper preparation did indeed lead to piss poor performance or about a hundred bites!
But just look at her face when the howler monkey climbed down the tree knowing she had a fruit pod
They are so gentle, grabbing onto your fingers and eating from the palm of your hand
Once the little guys had had their fill and lost interest in us, our guide asked if we’d like him to try & get a howl from the Daddy Monkey
And what a howl. There’s only a lion roars louder. Once he roared we were able to follow the sound and pick him out sitting way up in the top of the tree
So amidst the mozzie bites and wandering around pretty much in a daze, we won’t forget the howler monkeys
We picked up a tour from the quayside for $45 each. Our driver was excellent and we saw a manatee swim under the bridge, lots of iguana and a turkey vulture take off infront of us. Our guide at the monkey house showed us nomadic ants which were huge and a fern type plant with spikes related to the Venus fly trap
A great tour but remember the sunscreen & bug spray!
Yes it’s harder than you might think trying to get home in a hurry. Sorry you missed the funeral. 😥
