Lubeck, weird & wonderful

Docked in Travemunde, Germany, took the train to the pretty Medieval town of Lubeck and discovered the weirdest Church I’ve ever been to

The devil has been cast outside, legend says he’s lurking there to pick up lost souls from the wine bar opposite….

I adore stained glass windows. Most of the original Church windows were lost in the bombings of 1942. These in the Danse Macabre Chapel were replaced 10 years later

The memorials were suitably macabre too, but all in all it was a pretty Church with a very impressive timepiece. The booklet stated ‘do not be afraid, light is shining through’

The rest of the town was incredibly pretty and we had an obligatory ‘culture’ stop before leaving to introduce me to the ‘delights’ of German beer, I still don’t like beer…
