London Calling

Any excuse really!

When a friend is visiting London and you have to be in London you may as well just extend a couple of days to join them, right?

The trip mostly involved discount theatre tickets, bad selfies and delicious food

Shows were Mama Mia for the feel good factor and to get me in the mood for the museum, like I need any help. And Tina, which I managed to get a same day ticket for at an amazing £10, possibly the best tenner I’ve ever spent on entertainment! Fabulous show with superb finale

And then there was the food…

We had lunch at Cote, then after the show I took my friends to worship at the shrine that is the Primrose Bakery

I’ve all the books, I’ve been before and while it was lovely, I’d a carrot cupcake and it was lovely, but I’ve honestly had nicer at home

Somehow, after all that, I left the terrible two with two sharing plates and a bottle of wine as I headed to Tina, which was of course Simply The Best!

Entertaining Eric the next day we hopped on the hoho bus, I did a dying swan routine, we hopped off again at Harrods, my pride in tatters but an £8.50 Clinique lippy soon cheered me up and it was off for more food. Afternoon tea at The Shard

Now this was truly delicious. Even though there was a lot of fish on the menu they had no problem at all dealing with my allergy and those little puddings were nothing less than sublime

Food was fabulous, but I’m still waiting for the lemon for my English Earl Grey tea and hubby & I could have 3 afternoon teas at home for the price but then we wouldn’t have had the view

Id asked for a window table and that corner spot was probably the best seat in the house. When I’m watching Apprentice this year I’ll be going oh that’s where I was…

A quick walk to Tower pier and we jumped on the river cruise included in our bus ticket before taking the bus back to Victoria for Eric to catch his train

My air BnB was in Brixton and for me the foodie highlight of the trip was my very naughty but very nice burger in Honest Burger in Brixton Village

As a solo diner I was treated like a princess, the young couple working the floor were exceptional, their recommendations were spot on and nothing was too much trouble. I ended up offering to share my table with a lovely group of 3 teenagers and staff & teenagers were so chuffed. I’ll definitely be back here & to the perfect Air BnB just outside the prison
