Paradise in Guandaloupe

I can only describe Isle de Gosier as a little piece of Paradise!

Not the simplest place to get to, especially as we went the scenic route as we’d hoped to do some snorkelling at a marine reserve but murky waters, rickety boats & lack of proper equipment hire put us off

There was a cute little market, and although it’s the Caribbean, Guandeloupe is part of France, so currency is Euro & texts to UK only cost 5p So I was able to chat away to hubby back home

Gosier however was just gorgeous and it was easy to find the ferry over to the island

It was just a short crossing to the tiny island with white sandy beaches & clear blue water so we enjoyed a few hours relaxing in the sun & the shade of the palm trees and floating about in the water,  there were loads of fish swimming in the shallows some so camouflaged against the sand that  you saw their shadow before you saw them

There was a little beach shack where you could buy wine, beer or champagne, well it is French, and we hired the loungers of the ferry guy,  and that was pretty much all there was on the island.

There were boats moored and some people kayaked over, a couple even swam across from the mainland but the beach was never crowded and the shallow water was wonderful to lounge about it, I even had a bit of a swim round the jetty

Heading back on the ferry a pelican put on quite a display on for us, he was certainly an accomplished fisherman it was amazing to watch him dive, surface, gobble his fish and do it all again

The Girls grabbed a beer as we waited for the taxi back to port, I had a Desperado, but it was too beery for me, so we stopped for a cocktail before going back to the ship

The little cafe only had one cocktail on the menu, a Planter, which they said was local, it was certainly delicious with a sprinkling of cinnamon.  The coconut shell was an ashtray.

A great spot for people watching, though the locals weren’t as friendly here as they were on the other islands and we made no new friends in any of the bars

Fantastic day on the beach
