Last days in Madrid

Sunday morning had the market firmly in its sight!

Walk from Sol or Latino it said on google so instead of changing at Sol I just got off the train & walked, and walked, and walked some more…..

Sure there’s only 3500 stalls, how could I not find that???

After an hours walk just when I was about to give up & find some food I stumbled across Latino station & the market right across the street

So many people, the main streets were just a sea of people, back streets and little squares were quieter, really enjoyed the square with the vintage stalls, the only place I was happy enough to whip my phone out & take some pics

Some great screen printing, loved the Dinosaur on a lead T Shirt at one stall some cute hand made stalls & loads of general market stuff but I didn’t come across any food stalls, I’m guessing they were grouped in an area I didn’t find

The weeks walking was making itself felt in the knees & ankles so chilled out for a while in the square & back at the hotel

Last landmark on my list was Temple of Debod which turned out to be near my hotel.  Fantastic park with great atmosphere from where I entered the park there were a lot of steps up to the temple, but view at top was pretty cool

Afterwards wandered through Plaza de Espana and along Gran Via where I treated myself to some Tinto de Verano and some tapas before returning to my room, feeling rather mellow, to enjoy one last look at the Royal Palace

A good sleep & I was ready for home but first enjoyed a couple of hours drinking coffee in Plaza Mayor with some good friends from home

At the airport I succumbed to a Starbucks and this was the only time I messed up my food order, don’t know why I put back the ‘York y queso’ and lifted the ‘York y huevo’ but I did

Great flight home with Ryanair and hubby met me at the airport, had a great time in Madrid but was glad to be home
